About the Artist:
After completing my MA in History of Art from the University of London with a specialization in Early Modern British Architecture, my plan was to study, teach, and curate art…but not create it professionally.
For the past ten years, I’ve loved the challenge and meditative process of hand drawing symmetrical repeating patterns; it was only in 2021 that I discovered the surface pattern design profession and the magic of digitizing analogue designs. For the first time, I could bring my art to the world without sacrificing the handmade process! Each piece begins with inspiration from the natural beauty of the Ozarks and the visual rhythm and order of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement.
I used to be so troubled that it was so difficult to find bedding, curtains, and wallpaper for my home that felt timeless and reminiscent of the art style I admired so much from my graduate studies. Now it’s my dream to bring my meticulously hand drawn seamless repeating patterns to life on textiles around the world. Hopefully someday, someone longing to surround themselves with this classic and timeless aesthetic will have a little less trouble making their space feel like home.
Why “Mossy Moot”?
Linden Lea, one of my favorite poems describes a "mossy moot" - an old, traditional gathering place; a long-standing community meeting spot with a sense of history and natural surroundings. This is exactly what I hope my designs evoke and inspire.
“Within the woodlands, flow’ry gladed,
By the oak tree’s mossy moot,
The shining grass-blades, timber-shaded,
Now do quiver under foot,
And birds do whistle overhead,
And water’s bubbling in its bed,
And there for me the apple tree
